This museum isn’t a recreation or a grand flagship, it is where Christian Dior actually grew up. Perched on a clifftop overlooking the Channel Islands in Granville, Normandy, the 19th-century villa named “Les Rhumbs” was converted into a museum in 1997. It spans three storeys and houses over 3,000 pieces, including archival dresses, accessories, original drawings, and documents that chart the evolution of the Dior fashion house. Every summer, the museum hosts a new themed exhibition that takes over the space, offering a fresh angle on Dior’s legacy each year. There are also small perfume-making workshops held in the villa’s intimate corners, specifically in the reading room that once belonged to Dior’s mother, Madeleine. Her carefully maintained garden, filled with the same roses and blooms she once tended, still surrounds the house and remains a central part of the experience.
