Shreya Dhanwanthary slams CBFC over kiss cut in Superman

Actress Shreya Dhanwanthary, who has starred in films such as Guns & Gulaabs, Looop Lapeta, The Family Man, and Scam 1992, denounced the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for removing a 33- second kissing scene from the recently released Hollywood movie Superman, which starred Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet.

Shreya calls the act absolute…

The actress expressed her anger, calling it absolute nonsense, saying that the theatre experience is being made terrible and that the public should have the freedom to choose what they want to see on screen.

What Shreya Dhanwanthary said?

Shreya shared a screenshot of a news report on her Instagram Stories on Friday evening, July 11, with the heading, CBFC deletes 33-second-long ‘sensual visual’ in Superman. Lashing out, the actress said, They want us to go to the theatres. They want us to stop pirating stuff. I don’t understand. Why make the theatre going experience so horrible then? LET US DECIDE WHAT WE WANT TO WATCH!!!! Let us decide what we want to do with our time and money!

‘What ridiculous…’, says Shreya

She further added, WHAT RIDICULOUS CRAP THIS IS!!! Then they blame the audience and say that we don’t go to the cinemas anymore and then wonder why people watch mediocre crap on OTT’s and TV. It is because you are making the other options intolerable!!! A cinema hall is THE best way to experience a film. You are killing this and us by treating us like children.

Social media users also call out…

A number of social media users criticised the censorship and questioned the CBFC’s choice to remove the Superman kiss scene. According to Bollywood Hungama, audiences at the film’s July 9 screening were unimpressed with the cut, leaving many perplexed as to why one kissing scene was left in while another was censored.
