Following reports of armed clashes near the Thailand-Cambodia border, Indian embassies in both countries have issued advisories urging travellers to avoid the affected areas.
On Saturday, the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh advised citizens in Cambodia to stay away from border regions and shared an emergency contact number (+855 92881676) and email (cons.phnompenh@mea.gov.in) for assistance.
A day earlier, the Indian Embassy in Bangkok had warned travellers to avoid seven Thai provinces that share a border with Cambodia. These include Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat. It also recommended staying updated through official channels such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s TAT Newsroom.
The clashes are taking place at a considerable distance from major cities, including Bangkok and Krabi in Thailand, and Phnom Penh in Cambodia, which remain unaffected, with flights continuing to operate as usual.
This is a developing story and will be updated with more information on advisories, travel restrictions, and other guidelines.
