Shah Rukh Khan to receive just Rs 1 lakh as cash prize for his Best Actor National Award, here’s why.
Shah Rukh Khan, following an incredible career spanning over three decades, bagged his first-ever National Film Award this year for his flawless performance in Jawan. Directed by Atlee, the film was successful in earning over Rs 640 crore at the box office across multiple languages. Such was the impact of his blockbuster that it emerged as the highest grossing Hindi film ever. The actor has been currently busy shooting in Poland for his much-anticipated film King with Siddharth Anand. He is expected to be in Delhi to receive the award from the President of India Droupadi Murmu. But do you know how much he will be paid for winning the award?
How much money will Shah Rukh Khan get?
On winning a National Award, every winner is honoured with not just a medal, but also a certificate and a cash prize. By bagging the Best Actor in Leading Role award Shah Rukh was to be given the cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. However, he will only be given Rs 1 lakh as his prize.
Why is Shah Rukh Khan being paid less?
Yes, Shah Rukh Khan is being paid just Rs 1 lakh and not Rs 2 lakh because he is sharing the award with Vikrant Massey. Vikrant has also been honored with Best Actor award for his performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s The Fail. According to the rules, if the prize money is shared between two individuals, then they are given individual medals and certificates. However, the cash prize is equally spilt.
