For such a slim base, the Slim Pack 2 does an impressive job self-standing, at least until you fill it completely. Once loaded, it tips more easily, which makes sense given the size.
On the sides, you’ll notice the absence of water bottle pockets. With a frame this small, even a standard bottle would overwhelm it. Instead, Aer added side handles, which are high-quality and padded but not everyone’s favorite.
They look a bit awkward and, in my opinion, interrupt the streamlined vibe. The top handle, however, is excellent: sturdy, padded, and always useful.
The main compartment uses Aer’s signature zipper pulls that can interlock for added theft resistance. Inside, you get a thoughtful spread of organization:
- Lined sleeve
- Zippered pocket
- Stretch mesh pockets
- Key leash (tucked deeper than ideal)
- Dedicated AirTag slot
- Laptop sleeve with a raised false bottom
A 16-inch MacBook Pro squeezes in, though just barely. Smaller laptops are more convenient. Padding is outstanding, keeping tech well protected. The drawback is that the laptop sleeve is inside the main compartment, so when the bag is packed tightly, it’s harder to access.
With items like a tech pouch, headphones, book, and umbrella, you’ll max out capacity quickly. Because the bag doesn’t fully clamshell, some pockets get cramped or bent under load. It’s usable, but you’ll need to embrace minimalist packing.
