The Amboli police on Saturday filed a FIR against actress Ruchi Gujjar, following a complaint submitted by producer and director Man Lal Singh. The police have filed a case against her for allegedly verbally and physically abusing Singh during the Solang Valley movie premiere at Cinepolis in Fun Republic Mall, Andheri West, on Friday. She allegedly tossed a water bottle at him, slapped him with her sandal, and threatened to prevent the film’s release.
What was the case about?
The Amboli police had previously filed a formal complaint against Singh’s friend Karan Singh Chauhan on July 24 for allegedly defrauding her of Rs 25 lakh, based on Gujjar’s complaint.
Living in Goregaon West, the complainant, Man Lal Singh, runs a production company called Shorya Studio. The FIR claims that Singh was introduced to Ruchi Gujjar by his friend Chauhan, who had previously showed him a picture of her. Singh and Chauhan had two encounters with Gujjar in 2023.
Singh and Chauhan have been co-producing the film Solang Valley since 2023. There had been no financial exchanges between them, Singh said. He later learned that Chauhan was accused of cheating on Gujjar. Singh made the decision to exclude Chauhan from the film’s production as a result.
Gujjar threatens film release over money dispute
Gujjar had been messaging Singh for the past month, accusing Chauhan of stealing her money and using it to finance the Solang Valley movie. According to reports, she threatened to stop the film’s distribution if her money was not refunded. In addition, Gujjar petitioned the City Civil Court in Dindoshi to stop the movie’s release. But the petition was denied by the court.
Solang Valley premiere turns chaotic
The Solang Valley premiere was held at Cinepolis, Fun Republic Mall, Andheri West, on July 25 at approximately 9 PM. Gujjar is said to have brought four female bouncers and a couple male bouncers to the event at approximately 8:40 PM. Despite not having a valid pass and not being invited, she pushed her way into the mall’s second floor.
Singh claims that Gujjar started yelling and threatening to stop the film’s release. She allegedly assaulted his female bouncers and verbally harassed him. After taking off her sandal, she struck Singh across the cheek. She allegedly hurled a water bottle at Singh as onlookers attempted to step in.
