The Assam influencer was dragged into a scandal following some morphed images of her being circulated on social media. The explicit images of the Archita falsely claimed her involvement in adult content and even her residence in the United States, were widely circulated and sparked public outrage across Assam.
Who is the real culprit?
Now, the Dibrugarh Police have detained the primary accused in the Archita Phukan cyber defamation case for allegedly sharing distorted and explicit images of the young woman on social media, marking a significant development in the case. The accused, named as Archita’s ex-boyfriend Pratim Bora, has been charged of utilising advanced photo editing software to superimpose Archita’s face onto pornographic images in order to start a violent campaign of digital defamation.
What police probe revealed about Archita?
Official police conformation proved that Archita is not associated with any adult content and is not residing overseas, despite the widely circulated false allegation. The purpose of creating and disseminating the fake information was to intentionally damage her reputation after a personal issue.
Archita files FIR after viral explicit images
An investigation was launched right away when Archita filed a formal FIR at the Dibrugarh Police Station after seeing the derogatory content online. After the cybercrime team quickly located Bora, he was charged with online harassment, defamation, and privacy breach, among other offenses under the Indian Penal Code and IT Act.
