Filmmaker Pankaj Parashar in a recent interview recalled why his movie Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahi faced several delays. The movie starred Sridevi and Akshay Kumar in leading roles. The filmmaker blamed Ram Gopal Varma for the same.

Sridevi went on crash diet

In an interview with Friday Talkies, Pankaj Parashar revealed how Sridevi’s health took a major hit as she went on a crash diet. It was because Ram Gopal Varma asked her to lose weight.

Sridevi’s BP dropped

Pankaj Parashar revealed that Sridevi gave up on salt to lose weight. She even fainted after her blood pressure dropped leading to her losing a tooth due to the accident. She was allegedly unconscious for around 20 minutes.

Sridevi fainted and lost tooth

The filmmaker was quoted saying, ”She went on a crash course, oh, and when she does that, and she stopped salt, BP drops and she faints. Toh she fainted and hits the table and she was unconscious for 20 minutes and she lost a tooth. Toh hamara poora schedule gaya.’

Further delays due to…

He further explained that the incident led to delay in shooting of Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahi. In between, he also added that the financer left the movie and the producer also passed away. All of it led to the delay.

Meri Biwi Ka Jawan Nahi starring Sridevi and Akshay Kumar was reportedly shot in early 90s. However, due to the delays, the film could not release in 2004. It did not perform well at the box office.

Sridevi’s death

Sridevi passed away in the year 2018. The actress breathed her last in Dubai. The cause of her demise was said to be ‘accidental drowning’. Her sudden demise left everyone numb.
