A disturbing incident occurred in Pakistan where a popular TikTok content creator, Sumeera Rajput, was found dead in her house in the Ghotki district of Sindh province under suspicious circumstances. According to the earlier reports, the 36-year-old has been poisoned by the people who were forcing her into a forced marriage. Sumeera’s daughter, who is 15 years old, alleges that her mother was given some tablets, which later led to her death. The unsettling incident has sparked concern around gender based violence in Pakistan.

According to reports in Pakistani news channel Geo News, Sumeera’s 15-year-old daughter, who herself is a popular content creator on TikTok, has listed out serious allegations on individuals who were allegedly trying to force her mother into a marriage. She said, “The suspects gave poisonous tablets to Sumeera, which led to her death.” Sumeera’s daughter’s allegations have sparked widespread concern on social media and within women’s rights groups, drawing attention to the growing concerns over the safety of female influencers in Pakistan who are constantly facing threats and violence.
According to reports of investigations, the authorities have taken two individuals, Babu Rajput and Muhammad Imran, into custody for interrogation. As the investigation proceeds, Pakistani police have reportedly not registered a First Information Report (FIR) yet, sparking controversy and criticism from activists demanding justice in the case. Ghotki District Police Officer Anwar Shaikh confirmed the daughter’s claim and revealed that the police will carry forward the investigation properly. “A post-mortem of Sameera Rajput has been conducted, which has revealed that she died because of poisoning,” said Ghotki Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Anwar Khetran.
Sumeera Rajput is a popular TikToker in Pakistan with a total of 58,000 followers and over a million likes across her videos. The shocking case came just a few days after the killing of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf in Islamabad.
