Namit Malhotra, the multitalented filmmaker, producer, and global CEO of DNEG, one of the world’s top visual effects and animation studios, has been a key figure in shaping some of the most ambitious films in recent years, creating history. From producing Brahmāstra: Part One—Shiva to The Garfield Movie, Namit has taken Indian creativity to global heights and proved why they are the best. Now, he’s ready to bring his biggest project yet in front of the world: possibly the biggest cinematic retelling of the Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film, set to release in two parts, Part 1 during Diwali 2026 and Part 2 during Diwali 2027, is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated films of the decade. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of both movies, as they’re excited to witness the grand story on the big screen.

Ramayana: A Global Event in the Making

The first glimpse, released on August 3rd, went viral almost instantly. Viewers were blown away by the film’s visual scale, emotional depth, and authenticity, setting sky-high expectations for what’s to come. Not only did it excite the Indian audience, but it also generated significant buzz in the international audience as well.

“This has become the biggest vision of my life.” Reflecting on what the Ramayana means to him, Namit shared, “Ramayana holds deep spiritual and cultural meaning for us. The question was: how do we tell this story using today’s technology and creative tools, on a scale it truly deserves? That became the biggest vision and inspiration of my life.”

A Ramayana Unlike Anything Seen Before

While the Ramayana has been portrayed many times, Namit believes no one has brought it to life like this, sharing, “Especially on the big screen.” Until now, the Ramayana has felt like a stage play. We want to show the wars, the characters, and emotions exactly as they’re imagined in our stories, but at a scale never seen before.”

He continued: “There’s no story or character greater than the Ramayana. So why has the world never seen it like this? That’s the challenge I’ve taken up: to create something that will make all of us proud.”

Star-Studded Cast & Global Collaboration

The film boasts a powerful cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

It’s being produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG (winner of 8 Academy Awards) and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film will release worldwide in IMAX, promising a visually stunning and emotionally rich experience.

A Timeless Story for the Entire World

With its massive scale, international standards of visual effects, and a storytelling format deeply rooted in Indian mythology, Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana is shaping up to be not just a movie but a cultural event for the world to see the greatest story from India. If the film manages to meet everyone’s expectations, it can simply break the box office and everyone’s minds altogether.
