Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-anticipated film Coolie, which features Rajinikanth as the protagonist, will hit theatres on August 14, 2025. The film has been gaining massive buzz not only because of Rajinikanth, but also due to its impressive cast. For the unversed, the film also features Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. There’s also been buzz about Aamir Khan making a special cameo. Coolie also remains special because this is Rajinikanth’s first outing with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Lokesh had earlier directed several films including Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo.
Will Coolie be able to earn Rs 1000 crore?
The news that has been gaining everyone’s attention is that the film will cross Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office. Interestingly, the director has also shared his reaction. The makers of the film haven’t revealed anything about the film’s plot, and ensured the film’s teaser which had released recently left fans curious about it’d offer. While speaking to a new portal recently, Lokesh Kanagaraj discussed the film and the money he thinks it’d make.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Lokesh Kanagaraj said, “I don’t know. I can’t guarantee it will touch Rs 1000 crore. But I can guarantee one number, the Rs 150 spent by everyone coming to the theatre. It will be worth the money. I always look at numbers like Rs 150 or Rs 190, the price of a ticket. That’s what I focus on, not Rs 1000 crore.”

The Tamil film had recently unveiled its second song titled Monica. The track pays tribute to Italian actress Monica Bellucci. Released on July 11, the song has Pooja Hegde. The song has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Interestingly, actor Soubin Shahir also won several hearts with his flawless dance moves.
