Smriti Irani rose to fame with Tulsi Virani role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahut Thi. The actress-politician is all set to return to television screens and will reprise her role. Smriti worked hard even through her miscarriage. Yes, you read that right!
Smriti Irani on working through her miscarriage
Recently, Smriti Irani spoke about her busy shooting schedules in the 2000s and said that she returned to work three days after her son’s birth. She said that she was part of a daily soap and everyone wanted to watch a new episode daily at 10:30 p.m. Smriti revealed that she had even shot for the show while she was dealing with a personal loss and had a miscarriage. She even added that she was juggling motherhood and the job of being an actress. Late producer, Ravi Chopra, gave Smriti a week off, but the show’s daily airing gave Smriti no time to rest. She also said that someone in the production team told Ekta Kapoor that they were ready to shoot, but the actress was not available. She even said that the person told Ektaa that Smriti was lying about her miscarriage and she went back to her hospital to show the reports to them that she suffered a miscarriage.
She was even working on another show, Kuch Dil Se and was asked to shoot a month’s worth of episodes in advance. She returned within 30 days of giving birth and spoke about the concerns from her family and doctors. She even got an unexpected message. “I’m in the hospital after giving birth to my baby, and I get a wire: ‘You’re fired.’ And I’d just shot (for the talk show) a day before. They were just waiting for me to get into the hospital to tell me I’m fired,” she said.
According to Smriti, the producers had already planned her replacement and used her pre-recorded episodes. She did not retaliate and just smiled. She said that she knew that karma would do its job and they later hired a film actor for it and the show’s exhibit was much bigger. Smriti said that the show shut down soon and never started again.
Smriti Irani’s career
Smriti Irani gained a lot of fame and limelight with Ekta Kapoor’s show and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2003. She became the vice president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing in 2004 and is an MP from the Amethi constituency. She won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
Smriti made her television debut with the serial, Aatish and was seen in Kavita show which aired on DD Metro.
