Ramayana fever has officially kicked off. The buzz around the film began last week when a three-minute teaser had released. Since then, fans haven’t stopped discussing the varied aspects of the film – the plot, the cast and of course the remuneration among many other things. Excitement around the film continues to get intense even though there is enough time for the film’s release. Going by what we have seen so far, the mythological blockbuster is shaping up to be a massive hit. As evident from the teaser, Ramayana is a full-on spectacle. The upcoming movie features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Yash as Ravana.
Many believe Yash’s look as Ravana is an absolute show-stealer. While the internet is buzzing with updates, fans are busy debating and dissecting his look which has managed to make every frame look impeccable. Even actor and filmmaker Raj B Shetty has joined the conversation. Raj B Shetty shared his thoughts on Yash’s Instagram post that announced the teaser’s launch. His message read, “A Kannada poet defends his antihero by stating that the great ocean crosses its limits because of time, bringing events like tsunamis. His antihero was Ravana. I think, for the first time, we vow to defend our Ravana.” Yash was also quick to reeply to the tribute. He wrote, “Thank you, Shetre! Ramayana, beyond the right and wrong.”
What is Ramanyana about?
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of Indian cinema’s most-awaited and ambitious mythological productions which features Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ranbir Kapoor as Rama. According to reports, Kannada superstar Yash, who plays the mighty Ravana, has a brief role in the film. He spends fifteen minutes on screen.
How much have Ramayana producers earned before film’s release?
If reports are to be believed, Ramayana producers have earned Rs 1,000 crore ahead of the film’s release. While Prime Focus had already enjoyed a 30% increase in its share price—from Rs113.47 to Rs 149.69 between June 25 and July 1—being listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), it experienced further boost following the release of the teaser. Two days before the teaser, the company’s share price surged to nearly Rs 175. With this, it pushed its market cap from Rs 4,638 crore on July 1 to a peak of Rs 5,641 crore. This further led to a Rs 1,000 crore increase in the value of the Ramayana makers’ holdings within 2 days.
